Our Christmas Tree

Every Christmas, back in my parent's house, my mom always decorate our Christmas tree. [I never knew it was fun pala. hehehe] As early as September, she finds time to setup the christmas lights and decorations. You would really feel it's almost Christmas time.

This Yuletide season, in our humble home, I bought our very own Christmas tree. I was excited with the idea of decorating it. [I wish I could share the moment with Andrea. hehehe] I felt the christmas rush when shopping for this tree and its ornament. Some items were already out of stock. I'm glad they still have a 6ft tall tree. Choosing ornaments is really challenging for a first time like me. I tried to grab some ideas from the christmas trees around the mall, hoping I could mix and match the colors. I chose the green, red and gold combination. Ribbons and Christmas balls and lights.

With the help of my mother-in-law, our two helpers, we've come up with this!

Tada!!!

Happy First Monthsary

This is my third 1st monthsary in a company. Twing first month lang naman ako nag ba blog and the rest is history. hehehe. As I celebrate my monthsary, there are few other celebrations happening today that I am aware of, namely:

1) Astafunding office blessing - Officiated by Father James Chacko of Don Bosco Parish. Just a week ago, we moved to our new office. A nice and cozy ambiance where we will spend most of your day [I mean night] in a week.

2) The Feast of St. Francis Xavier commemorates the death of St. Francis Xavier, patron saint of Goa. Since Fr. Chacko is from India, he mentioned about this feast is celebrated every Dec. 3 and it's happening now in Goa, India.

3) It's Merwin's birthday today. One of my teammate in Content-Creations working on Fttw project. I have only met him once.

4) It's also Ed's birthday today. One of the pioneer member of WorkForce/Astafunding-Manila team.

Happy Celebration peeps! :D

Last Minute Shopper

Although they are a little bit pricey than the mentioned places above Last Minute Shopper
I am one of those last-minute Christmas shopper this year. I had no time to go to Greenhills or 168 or Divi or even St. Francis Square. Good thing there are one-stop-shop malls these days. so you really won't have to go to different places. Although they are a little bit pricey than the mentioned places above, rest assured you have a good quality of items or if not you can return it within 7 days as long as you still have the receipt.

I also learned my lesson few years ago... to have a list of names so you won't forget anyone. It also saves you time. You can plan ahead what items you should buy. Most toy stores offer free gift wrapping for toys bought from them. But you must be very patient and should expect long lines. Since most people, including me, will grab the free gift wrapping services which saves us lots of wrapper and effort.

One sad thing is that, although i am a Prestige cardholder, i was not able to use their exclusive gift wrapping service. You will have to pick it up after few hours and they can only entertain a maximum of 3 gifts per cardholder. So not good a thing for someone who is in a rush, like me.

Although I had a breeze shopping, I made sure that the gifts are still appropriate for them.

Happy Birthday Bro!

Christmas is only for kids and kids at heart Happy Birthday Bro!
As most people say, Christmas is only for kids and kids at heart. Children are excited to open their gift just before Christmas eve. The smiles on their faces are priceless. Most families were also reunited during this season. Delightful meals were also served on the dinning table.

Noche Buena is translated as "a Good Night". It's not actually all about food. It's not all about the gifts. This is a night of celebration of baby Jesus' birth. So what if you only have sardines for dinner? so what if you can't afford to buy a gift for your love ones. As long as you are grateful with what you have. As long as you showed them you love them, that's a best Christmas gift they will ever receive.

This is a season of love and forgiveness. A season of giving and sharing. A season of thanksgiving. So let's make everyday a Christmas day!!!

Happy Birthday baby Jesus! Thanks for everything!

By the way, can we not use the term "Xmas"? Should always be "Christmas" so we do not lose the real meaning of it.

Merry Christmas everyone!

My 2009 Year Ender

there are also some enigmatic things and events that I still can My 2009 Year EnderYear 2009 has been a good year for me. Not only that i got most of my "must have" gadgets this year, but also because there's really a lot to be thankful for. Most are answered prayers. Some are blessing in disguise. However, there are also some enigmatic things and events that I still can't grasp it's meaning or significance in my life.

I believe I'm a better person now. With all the challenges i have surpassed, decisions i made, the path i chose to take, emotions i tend to keep. All of this contributed to what i am now. Stronger. Better. But this is not the end. Next year is another year. There are still dreams to pursue. Plans to fulfill. and a mission to accomplish.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that have been part of my 365 days. To friends who listened to me, walked with me, laughed with me, shared their life with me and cried with me. To my family who have been very supportive and caring. To my husband who stood by me. To my daughter who gave joy to my life. And most of all, to our Creator who have been there, as always, when i needed Him most.

Let's always count our blessing. and be thankful for what we have. There's always reasons and things to learn from everything.

Happy New Year Everyone!

Positive: Very inquisitive, curious, and witty with leadership qualities. Monkeys are popular people.

Negative: Deceitful and self-absorbed. These individuals can be childish and drawn to mischief.

Chinese Astrology Horoscope 2010 for the Monkey: Plenty of ups and downs are in store for Monkeys in 2010, the Year of the Tiger. Although Monkeys do not generally fare well in a Tiger year, they do well in Yang years and with the Metal element. The bottom line is a year of dramatic ups and downs. Love relationships are likely to be on the challenging side. Monkeys often tempt fate, and this year is not the best year in which to push your luck. You may easily get caught in lies of your own making, so take the honest route and the high road.

These individuals can be childish and drawn to mischief Monkey on 2010http://hubpages.com
It is essential for the monkey to not be overly emotional in 2010. You will find that not everything will go your way initially. While you might lose some close friends, you have to maintain mental stability to save the broken pieces of the relationship. However, 2010 will provide business opportunities for you. It is the year for you to take risks. Take the risks and you will be rewarded tremendously. Do not rest on your laurels and expect things to happen!

The Monkey, like the creature in the wild, is very innovative, seeks out solutions to problems and motivates others with its sociability but they can be seen as a cunning, deceptive and manipulative lot.

I Am Not Perfect...

I admit i am not a perfect citizen. Sometimes i break traffic rules.

I admit i am not a perfect employee. Sometimes i do non-work related during office hours.

i admit i am not a perfect friend. Whom you can call whenever you need me. There are other things to attend to.

i admit i am not a perfect daughter. Sometimes i cannot be there when you needed a companion. There's someone else who needs my company.

I admit i am not a perfect sister. Sometimes i hurt your feelings even if i don't mean to.

i admit i am not a perfect wife. I can't cook that well... but i do have specialties. i can't do the laundry all the time... 'coz my back aches. i can't clean the bathroom... 'coz i really can't!

i admit i am not a perfect mother. Sometimes i get so sleepy that i can't wait till you're asleep.

i admit i am not a perfect person, i commit mistakes most of the time.

But our Creator made an imperfect world for us to fill up each and every one's missing pieces. Can you fill up that missing piece in me, so we could be a perfect match? :-)

You Belong With Me

by Taylor Swift

You're on the phone with your girlfriend, She's upset
She's going off about something that you said
She doesnt get your humour like I do

I'm in the room, its a typical Tuesday night
I'm listening to the kind of music she doesnt like
And she'll never know your story like I do

But she wears short skirts, I wear t-shirts
She's cheer captain and I'm on the bleachers
Dreaming bout the day when you wake up and find
That what you're lookin for has been here the whole time

If you could see that I'm the one who understands you
Been here all along so why can't you see?
You belong with me
You belong with me

Walkin the streets with you in your worn out jeans
I cant help thinking this is how it ought to be
Laughing on the park bench thinkin to myself
Hey isnt this easy?

And you've got a smile that could light up this whole town
I havent seen it in awhile, since she brought you down
You say you find I know you better than that
Hey, Whatcha doing with a girl like that?

She wears high heels, I wear sneakers
She's cheer captain and I'm on the bleachers
Dreaming bout the day when you wake up and find
That what you're looking for has been here the whole time

If you could see that I'm the one who understands you
Been here all along so why can't you see?
You belong with me

Standin by, waiting at your back door
All this time how could you not know that?
You belong with me
You belong with me

Oh I remember you driving to my house in the middle of the night
I'm the one who makes you laugh when you know you're about to cry
I know your favorite songs and you tell me about your dreams
I think I know where you belong. I think I know it's with me.

Can't you see that I'm the one who understands you?
Been here all along so why can't you see?
You belong with me

Standing by or waiting at your back door
All this time how could you not know that
You belong with me
You belong with me

Have you ever thought just maybe
You belong with me
You belong with me

Always Look Your Best

t really know whom we will meet across the street or in some places Always Look Your BestWe don't really know whom we will meet across the street or in some places. It's always a good thing to look your best at all time. You might run into your ultimate crush back in high school. Or your terror teacher in college. Or Papa Piolo buying coffee at Starbucks. Who knows? Expect the unexpected, right? This might be the last time they will see you after a long time. Would you like them to remember you in such unpleasant, graceless, haggard look?! I guess not!

Here are some few tips on how you can always look your best.

1. Take good care of your skin. Use moisturizer, skin toner and facial cleanser daily; and/or expoliant once a week to remove dead skin cells. Ask your dermatologist on what's best for your skin.

2. A woman's hair is her crowning glory so take good care of your hair. Look for a style that match your face type. You can look through any fashion magazines for ideas or ask your salon stylist. Use conditioner everyday to help you protect and manage your hair. You can also use hair treatment once a week to repair damaged hair. Me, I also use hair coat for protection from sun rays and dirts.

3. Always have a clean fingernails. Clear polish is better if you can't maintain atleast a weekly manicure and pedicure. Have a small nail file or nail clipper handy so you can repair broken nails when needed.

4. Always wear a perfume or a cologne or a good smelling lotions and hair sprays so you always smells fresh. Keep them handy.

5. Choose clothes that fits. Arrange your closet every six months, and set aside those that you don't wear anymore. Try different style but don't overdo it.

6. Always wear some type of jewelry that matches your outfit. An earring enhances your face glow. Buy some jewelry cleaner and soak your jewelry daily or every time you wear it to keep it clean and shinny.

7. Last but not the least, always wear a smile. You wouldn't know who might fall in love with your smile. It might also brighten someone else's bad day.

Diet Upshot

t wanna check on my pounds or check my waist line Diet UpshotOk! I have completed my 14-day diet. So what now? Someone would ask me, have you checked on your vital stats? Did you lose weight? Are there any significant changes? I just said, No! I don't wanna check on my pounds or check my waist line. I don't want to disappoint my ego! hahaha! I know two weeks are not enough for me to lose that much. I don't know if it's just psychological but i felt lighter. I will reserve my enthusiasm for later!

For now, I plan to continue my no-rice diet. If our budget allows, we'll go for a south beach diet from The Sexy Chef!

Brain Freeze

s a warm friday afternoon and I need something to refresh Brain FreezeIt's a warm friday afternoon and I need something to refresh. I always had a Frap but not this time. For a change, we went to 7-11 and had a big big big ounce [no! just 32 oz. which is the biggest one] of Slurpee. It popularized the term "brain freeze". A headache that almost last for 30 seconds. The cold temperature causes blood vessels to constrict and then experience extreme rebound dilation as they warm up again. A good feeling though! But don't worry! It is not believed to be dangerous.

So chill!!!

Cervical Cancer Vaccine

I had my Cervical Cancer vaccine just because Mannix said so Cervical Cancer VaccineHonestly, I had my Cervical Cancer vaccine just because Mannix said so. Their company offered these three shots for a discounted price. I was too busy then to research about it. I just saw it on TV and my sister had it. So i guess, maybe i should get one too! [nakiuso kumbaga! hehehe] I got my 3rd shot last weekend.

Now that i am protected maybe i should know about it. hehehe!

Source: Cervical Cancer Facts

I had my Cervical Cancer vaccine just because Mannix said so Cervical Cancer VaccineWorldwide, cervical cancer is the second most common cause of cancer death in women. So the cervical cancer vaccine (also called the Human Papillomavirus or HPV vaccine) protects against the virus that causes almost all cervical cancers.

HPV is a family of very common viruses that cause almost all cervical cancers, plus a variety of other problems like common warts, genital warts and plantar warts. HPV also causes cancers of the vulva, vagina, anus, and cancers of the head and neck. Women and men become infected with HPV types that cause cervical cancer through sexual intercourse and sexual contact. Most women will be exposed to HPV during their lifetime.

The vaccine is given in the arm or thigh 3 times—at the first visit, 2 months later and 4 months after that. The best protection is achieved after all 3 shots are given.

Please remember that the cervical cancer vaccine does not protect against other sexually transmitted infections. You must still make thoughtful and careful choices about sexual activity.

Remember also that vaccinated women still require regular Pap tests if they have been sexually active.

Photography Workshop

When I learned about PhotoWorldManila.com, i was really excited to enroll for their Basic Photography Workshop. I believe they're much cheaper than the one i saw almost a year ago. As of this writing, it's only Php3,500 for 5 sessions. And they have sessions on weekends. I know this is the right time for me. I promise myself i will join after Andrea's party. Good thing, one of my colleague and her friend also wanted to join. So we registered online and pay thru bank deposit. And the weekend after that, we were in front of the class! weee!

Most of us are hobbyist and in IT. And all of us wanted to explore more about our cameras and how to use the settings manually. Also to meet new friends.

One also said, he was a bit offended by one facebook group [Ndi porket may DSLR ka Photographer ka na!] hehehe! ouch! well then, you'll see! we'll be professional photographer someday!

It's Show Time!

I missed all soap operas on primetime especially It's Show Time!Since my work schedule changed, I missed all soap operas on primetime especially Pinoy Big Brother [Melai and Jason]. But not anymore! I now have my new favorite! It's an early noon time show! It's Show Time! I am now addicted to it. Not only that i'm a fan of almost all the host there, It is really very entertaining! [Showtime starts my day and ends with Papa jack of Love radio. sila lang kasi ang sinusubaybayan ko kasi napapa hagikgik talaga nila ako hehehe]

Showtime is hosted by Vhong Navarro [one of my favorite actor/comedian], Sexy and pretty Anne Curtis [i love her outfit and her wit], Kuya Kim Atienza [i like him kasi andami nya trivia], grup band vocalists Teddy of Rocksteddy [i like him too kasi makulit sya sobra] and Jugs of Itchyworms [ndi ko sya una kilala, but i'm starting to like him na kasi i love his shades!]. And my super fave comic Vice Ganda as one of the jug-jey[judge] but he's unevictible. He's smart and very funny. I saw his MMK episode last year.

I love the part that they have to critique the contestants [as in super okray!]. And yung pinauso ni Vice Ganda na "Dahil dyan, may nag text!" hahaha! In terms of judging, very objective naman sila so it's fair. Mapa bata man or matanda, as long as maganda ang performance and enegy level patok ka sa pang ookray at sa madlang people. hahaha!

I know i'm an avid ShowTimer na talaga!

I was once addicted to Super Tacos of Gourmet Taco ManiaI love tacos. I was once addicted to Super Tacos of Gourmet's Charbroiled Burger. We always had our one-hour merienda sessions and chikahan at Buencamino st. in Alabang. [When I'm still connected with GHC]. My colleagues already know what I will have... TACOS! sometimes i ordered two ehehehe [addict di ba]

Now, after years of Tacos free tummy, I discovered another place where i can have this yummy, mouth-watering, super delicious Tacos! At Pancake house! yey! [sorry ah ngayon ko lang sya na discover eh!] hahaha

Pasta Carbonara Recipe

I seldom eat pasta in white sauce coz i easily get distaste. But i do love mushrooms. So the first time I went to Pancake House, I ordered for a Pasta Carbonara. And I loved it! One of my colleague said it's so easy to prepare. I was up to the challenge so I cooked this weekend for our merienda.

Here's the recipe i got from Smart Parenting Forum. I just added mushrooms.

I seldom eat pasta in white sauce coz i easily get distaste Pasta Carbonara Recipe400g spaghetti, cooked al dente
200grams bacon bits
1 can sliced mushrooms
2 nestle All-purpose Cream
2 Tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
2 Tbsp. parmesan cheese, grated
2 cloves garlic, minced
salt and pepper to taste

Procedure:
1. Cook bacon until done. Remove from pan and drain onto paper towel.
2. Saute garlic and mushrooms using 1 tbsp of bacon's oil.
3. Add all-purpose cream. Stir constantly until it thickens. (Tip: Just let it simmer till thick so that you won't need to add flour or cornstarch)
4. Add parsley and 3/4 of the cooked bacon.
5. Add salt and pepper to taste. (Tip: Sometimes I make it slightly salty coz the taste will even out when you add the pasta)
6. Turn off heat and toss in the cooked pasta.
7. Toss in 1 Tbsp of the grated parmesan cheese
8. Place in serving dish and top with remaining parmesan cheese and bacon.

Happy Heart's Day

I was walking around Makati malls a while ago, what caught my attention is how busy almost all the flower shops. Oh! Of course! It is a Valentine day! [on Sunday] But since today is the last working day for this week kaya cguro madami na din nag advance.

As far as I know, most girls loved to receive flowers. [Wala lang! Parang ganda mo di ba?! hehehe basta iba yung feeling.] You feel loved. I don't understand why many guys are manhid, kuripot, or simply "Practical"! hahaha [Demanding ba ang mga girls? pede naman kahit anong flowers basta bukal sa loob magbigay eheheh]

Well anyway, I don't really expect to receive flowers on Sunday. [wushu!]

Just wanted to share this video i did for my hubby.

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone! Let's spread the Love!:D

Cheesy Tuna Corn Pasta Recipe

I love weekends. I love corn. I love pasta. This time I had a chance to cook one of my sister Cherie's pasta recipe, Cheesy Tuna Corn Pasta! Yum Yum! It's so easy to prepare that's why I love it too.

One good thing here is that you can increase or decrease the amount of some ingredients depending on your taste. If you want it more cheesy, then add more cheese. If you love corn [like me] then add more corn. So there's really no set amount of ingredients.

Here's mine:

This time I had a chance to cook one of my sister Cherie Cheesy Tuna Corn Pasta Recipe500 gram package of any pasta you like
2 can of tuna (preferably in oil)
1 can of corn
1 sachet of mayonnaise
1 pack of all purpose cream
1 chopped onion
grated cheese of your choice (any soft white cheese would work, cheddar)
salt
pepper
olive oil
any of your favorite spices (oregano, basil)

Preparation:
1. Cook pasta. Drain and set aside.
2. Saute onion in olive oil until golden brown. Add tuna [including the oil as this will be incorporated into the pasta later] and corn.
3. In low heat, add mayonnaise and all purpose cream.
4. Add salt and pepper to taste. You may also add other spices like bakteri or oregano depending on your preference.
5. Add the cheese just until it melts.
6. Lastly, toss the pasta in the skillet. Mix evenly. Top with cheese. Serve.

Make 4-5 servings. Now, enjoy!

[I forgot to take a picture. I was excited to eat! wehehehe]

Take It Or Leave It

Finding your dream job is quite of a challenge Take it or Leave itFinding your dream job is quite of a challenge. Well, I guess there's no such thing as dream job in the real world. Sometimes, your job gets so boring for you and you wanted to do more. Sometimes, you just feel your boss really sucks! And you would rather go malling than spend your day being bullied or something. Sometimes, policies get to your nerves! and caught yourself babbling "What the heck are they thinking?!"

Complaining is just a waste of time and energy. It's just a simple question to ask yourself. Would you take it? or leave it!?

At the end of the day, you really have to make a choice. If you decide to take it, then stop yacking and start doing what you're paid for. But if it's wrecking down your whole being then leave! It's not healthy for both parties if you'd stay, is it?

So stop torturing yourself and answer this question!

Unexpected Invitation

I was walking at the mall today to meet my mom Unexpected InvitationI was walking at the mall today to meet my mom. A guy, mid 30s of age, approached me and ask where is the cyberzone. I told him its on the 4th flr and continued texting my mom.

To my surprise, he walked with me and tried to have a little conversations. He introduced himself as Eric Mendoza. He was trying to shake my hands, i just waved 'Hi!'. He started asking me if i was alone and if I wanna have lunch with him. Or if we could hang out sometime. [uh oh!]

Although the approach is very friendly but I don't entertain stalkers. I was just smiling at him to show hospitality. He asked for my cel number but i told him that i don't give out my number and i don't go out. [I don't really wanna give out much details about me] He said he just wanna befriend me and hang out sometime. When he realized he won't get anything from me he said bye.

Wierd! I just had a feeling of deja vu. Wew!

Always Be Vigilant

Have you had deja vu? Well, I did!

Yesterday's encounter reminded me of few other experiences with these kinds of people. But the closest is the first one.

s encounter reminded me of few other experiences with these kinds of people Always be VigilantWhen I was a college freshman. I was at SM north [mall as usual] to buy some school stuffs and I was carrying so many things on both of my hands. On my way home, A guy of mid 30s, walked with me and tried to be a nice guy. Offered to help me bring my stuffs but I refused. Still, he walks with me, assists me to cross the street and hold me on my elbow. He said I could treat him as "Kuya". He had a hamster and showed it to me. And asked me if I wanted to stroll at the park [Wild life in QC] and make him company. I was so scared that I jumped to the first jeepney that stopped. My heartbeat was so fast and my knees was shaking. I was relieved to know he did not follow me. Wew! That was the first time and I skipped going to that mall [alone] for months!

Another one was when I was dining in at a fast food restaurant. A guy, popped out of nowhere and, sat across my table. He asked me if i was alone and if he could join. [There's still lot of seats around though!] Good thing I have a friend with me who's at the counter ordering food. I waved at him and the guy went off.

There were also some taxi experiences, when the driver was making kwento about his life and then suddenly asked me for my cell number or offered to be my everyday service to the office. [Duh!] That's why I seldom talk to chatty taxi drivers, I'm just so paranoid that they're up to something.

Others were in public transports. I don't wanna elaborate more. [kulang na sa space. hehehe]

s encounter reminded me of few other experiences with these kinds of people Always be VigilantEwan ko ba! Feeling ko naman ang haba ng hair ko. I don't know! There's always these woman's instinct in me that the intention was not genuine and that there's something else in it.

These experiences should remind us, women, to be aware of our surroundings. There might be someone watching over us off our guard and waiting for the perfect timing to take advantage.

So, always be vigilant! They'll be just around as long as they can harass someone.

But still, Life must go on! No one could stop me from going to malls and do some shopping! hehehe

Tough Times Never Last...

"...but tough people do." - Robert H. Schuller

These times only last for a certain span in our life but the effect is long term Tough times never last...Yes indeed! Trials only exist to test our capacity. To bend our personality. To make us stronger. These times only last for a certain span in our life but the effect is long term. As long as we look at it in a positive way, the result will be a better us! So, always look at the brighter side of life. And simply be happy. :-)
